대학생의 우울이 신체화에 미치는 영향: 정서억제와 신체귀인을 매개변인으로

초록

본 연구의 대상은 성인기로의 진입과 부모로부터 심리적인 독립을 준비하고, 보다 자율적인 생활방식으로 전환하는 중요한 단계에 놓여있는 대학생으로 선정하였다. 이 단계에 놓여있는 대학생들의 다양한 어려움들로 인하여 발생 할 수 있는 우울과 신체화의 관계에서 정서적 요인인 정서억제와 인지적 요인인 신체귀인의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 전국 대학생 418명(남성 163명, 여성 255명)을 대상으로 우울, 신체화, 정서억제, 신체귀인 척도에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. 자료는 상관분석과 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 분석하였으며, 연구모형과 경쟁모형의 검증을 통해 최종모형으로 연구모형이 채택되었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 연구에서 사용한 우울, 신체화, 정서억제, 신체귀인의 모든 변인들이 정적상관을 보였다. 둘째, 우울과 신체화 사이에 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 우울과 신체화의 관계에서 정서적 요인인 정서억제는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않아 매개하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 우울과 신체화의 관계에서 인지적 요인인 신체귀인의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 대학생의 우울과, 우울로 인해 비롯되는 신체화를 다루는 상담 장면에서 신체귀인을 주목하고 이를 중요한 요인으로 여기는 데 필요한 하나의 기초적인 자료로 제공될 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 또한, 본 연구는 전국의 일반 대학생들을 대상으로 신체화에 대한 연구를 했다는 점에서 의의가 있으며 우울과 신체화에 대해 탐구하면서 정서적 요인과 인지적 요인을 함께 살펴보았다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of emotional suppression and physical attribution between depression and somatization among college students. For this purpose, 418 college students responded to scales measuring levels of depression, somatization, emotional suppression, and physical attribution. Data were analyzed using correlation analysis and structural equation modeling. The results of the study are as follows. First, all variables used in this study showed positive correlations. Second, there was a significant relationship between depression and somatization. Third, emotional suppression did not affect the relationship between depression and somatization. Fourth, in the relationship between depression and somatization, the partial mediating effect of physical attribution was verified. These results can be used as basic data for better understanding the influence of physical attribution when counselors treat depression and somatization amongst college students. In addition, this study is meaningful that it analyzed the somatization of general college students across the country, and it is significant in that it examines both emotional and cognitive factors together.
