Abstract
Present studieswereperformedtodeterminethephysiologyof sedgerminationinViolaspeciesnativetoKorea. Twelvespecies, 1varietyand1formwerecollected,clasifiedandusedasmaterials:V.collina,V.blandaefomis,V. rosi,V. chaerophylloides,V. phalacrocarpa, for.albescence, V. seoulensis, V. yedoensis,V. keiskei,V. variegata,V.variegatavar.chinensis,andV. verecunda.V. tricolor'Helen Mount' was also used to compare wild with cultivated species. In ordertoinvestigatetheefect of temperatureonseedgermination, seedsstoredat 42 for 10monthsor 4yearswereincubatedat 10, 15,℃20, 25 under 16hiluminationwith4replicatesper treatment. Seds whichadnot germinatedat 10 weretransferredto30 to℃ ℃ ℃assesed. Higher the temperature, shorter the incubation time required for first, 40% and 80% ofthe uniformity of germination. Temperature change from 10 to 30 had a positive fect on seed germination.℃ ℃Key words- Sed germination,Viola, Temperature, Taxon
