Background : To evaluate the incidence of complications associated with cerebral angiography and survey the types of complication. Methods : Between 1995 and 1998, 171 patients with cerebrovascular disease who admitted in the department of neurology were retrospectively studied by reviewing the medical records. Results : 15 complications (8.7%) resulted from 171 angiographic procedures. Cerebral angiography was associated with 4.6%(n=8) overall incidence of neurologic deficit. Angiography-associated ischemic strokes developed in 2.9%(n=5), all occurred in the patients with significant stenosis (>50%) on the symptomatic intracranial vessels. Other cases were two cortical blindness(1.2%) and one seizure(0.6%). Conclusion : We found significant correlation between neurologic complications and stenosis on symptomatic intracranial vessels. Korean Journal of Stroke 1999;1(2): 197~200
