초록

Acute deep cerebral venous thrombosis of the internal cerebral veins, vein of Galen, and straight sinus, without associated thrombosis of the superior sagittal sinus, is a rare disorder and can be associated with a poor outcome. We report a case of bilateral nonhemorrhagic venous infarctions of the thalamus and basal ganglia caused by deep cerebral venous thrombosis, which was confirmed by brain CT, MRI, MRA, and angiography. Our case is a 74-year-old woman presenting with dizziness, dysarthria, dysphagia and right hemiapresis who survived without any neurological deficits after heparin treatment. We also reviewed the characteristic CT and MR imaging findings that can lead to a rapid diagnosis, thereby enabling early intervention. Korean Journal of Stroke 2002;4(1): 50~54
