우리나라 보조테크놀로지 분야의 현황 및 발전방향

Abstract

Assistive technology field in my country is just at the beginning stage. Because government budget for welfare of people with disabilities has been insufficient up to present time and the recognition level of general population toward people with disabilities has been very low in comparison with other developed countries, the support system to develop the assistive technology field in South Korea has never been established. In this paper, the problems in assistive technology field are analyzed in two aspects of the related research, professional education and training, and service delivery system and the related legislation and support policy. And as improvement and development strategies for assistive technology field, the following issues are suggested and discussed concretely: ① the reformation and standardization of system and standard for classification of assistive technology devices, ② the expansion of assistive technology device items which are distributed publicly, the lowering of distribution standards and the enrichment of distribution services, ③ the provision of assistive technology informations and the expansion of public relation activities, ④ the cultivation of related associations or academic societies and the education and training of assistive technology professionals, ⑤ the legislation of assistive technology act separated from other disability acts, ⑥ the establishment of service delivery systems and networks.
