동방교회와 서방교회가 갖는 신학적 이견은 특히 삼위일체 안에서 성부로부터 아들과 성령의 나오심의 관한 관계를 의미하는 ‘근원의 관계’(the relations of origin)에서 두드러진다. 어거스틴의 삼위일체론을 따르는 서방교회는 아들이 아버지로부터, 성령이 아버지와 아들로부터(filioque) 나온다고 주장한다면, 갑바도기아 교부의 신학에 기초한 동방교회는 성자와 성령은 각각 아버지로부터 나심과 나오심을 주장한다. 서방신학자들은 이러한 근원의 관계에 대해서 성령과 아들을 아버지에게(동방신학) 또는 성령을 아들과 아버지에게(서방신학) 종속시킴은 물론 삼위일체의 위계성을 형성한다고 비판한다. 갑바도기아 교부 신학의 지대한 영향을 받은 현대 사회적 삼위일체론자들, 특히 레오나르도 보프는 이러한 쟁점들을 해결하기 위해 특히 세 위격들의 사랑의 페리코레시스(perichoresis, 상호순환)를 강조한다. 이를 통해 삼위일체의 신적 통일성을 이룸으로 지금까지 삼위일체 하나님 안에서 보여질 수 있는 종속성을 해소하는데 공헌한 반면, 각 위격에 출생의 기능(causality)을 부여하여 세 위격의 독특성을 모호하게 만들었다. 본 저자는 사회적 삼위일체론에서 강조되어지는 삼위의 상호관계적 연합에 동의하면서도, 성서에 그 바탕을 둔 근원의 관계를 축소하거나 또는 그것을 훨씬 넘어서는 추상적인 신적 질서(taxis) 대해서는 동의하지 않는다. 갑바도기아 교부중의 한 사람인 나지안주스의 그레고리는 세 위격들의 관계적 교제(koinonia)를 통해 삼위-일체의 군주성을 이룬다고 주장함과 더불어 삼위의 상호관계적 연합은 오히려 근원의 관계를 토대로 한다고 주장한다. 그레고리의 사상은 이런 점에서 동방과 서방교회의 전통을 인정할 뿐만 현대 사회적 삼위일체론주의자들이 주장하는 관계적 삼위일체론에 부합한다는 점에서 그의 삼위일체론은 현대 신학계에 큰 의의가 있다고 하겠다.
Abstract
One of the theological differences between the eastern church and the western church is founded in the relations of the origin. It signifies the relation that the Son and the Holy Spirit proceed from the Father. While the west, following the Augustinian Trinity, asserts the Son's generation from the Father and the Spirit's procession from t도 Father and the Son(filioque), the east contends that the Father is not only the sole source of the two persons but also the principle of the Godhead. Many contemporary theologians accuse the relations of the origin of rendering subordination as well as hierarchy within the Trinity. Those theologians of social Trinity who have tried to undermined these issues suggest perichoresis that constitutes the unity of the triune persons without any subordination. I refuse to alter the traditional Trinitarian taxis, and to minimize the relations of origin within the Trinity, while pursuing the interrelated reciprocal communion of the divine persons. I believe that it is appropriate for current theological conversation to consider Gregory of Nazianzus’ Trinitarian thought and his position on the nature of the Godhead within the relational koinonia of the divine persons. Working from here, I will observe briefly Leonardo Boff's social Trinity and then attempt to construct the mutual- reciprocal relationships in a more equally balanced view of the doctrine of the Trinity based on the church Father's trinitarian thought.
