본 글은 한국교회의 세상에서의 긍정적 역할을 찾으려 하는 것이다. 하나님은 분단과 갈등으로 괴로워하는 한반도에 한국교회를 허락하셨다. 곧 이 땅에서 하나님은 한국교회의 사명을 부여하신 것이다. 그렇다면 답답한 남북관계를 개선하기 위해서는 한국교회가 가야할 길을 숙고하며 남북통일을 향한 국가의 파트너로서의 할 일을 생각해보는 것은 당연하다 하겠다. 정부를 향한 호불호의 입장을 제시하려는 것이 아니라, 교회의 길에 서서 파트너로서 마땅히 할 일을 원리적으로 구체적으로 찾는 것이다. 과연 한국교회가 답답하고 꽉 막힌 남북관계에서 해야 할 일은 없는 것일까? 한국교회가 비정치적으로 길을 열어 남북의 정치적 관계에 숨통을 터줄 수는 없을까? 한국교회는 정부의 보다 지혜로운 파트너가 될 수는 없을까? 그렇다고 교회의 정치화 내지는 정치신학을 말하는 것은 결코 아니다. 바라기는 성경적 관점에 서서 논의를 시도하려 하는 것이다.
Abstract
For the Partnership of the Korean Church for the Reunification of KoreaDo-Hong JouChurch history, Baekseok UniversityThis essay aims to lay out the positive role that the Korean Church can play in today's Korea. God gave Korea the gift of Church because of its history of division and conflict. God gave the Korean Church its mission by placing it in this land. Given the current state of North and South relations the Korean Church must have a strong perspective on its role and path ahead as a mediator. A partnership with the State is an area that can drive a watershed moment. This partnership should not be driven by political objectives, but rather by a practical and actionable set of objectives in line with the Church's position within society. What should those objectives be? Can the Church act as a non-political mediator that can help open up the lines of communication between North and South? Can the Church act as a wise partner to the South Korean government as it sets its policies? These questions will be considered from a biblical perspective.
