본 연구는 유아의 애완동물 기르기가 생명 존중감 증진과 사회적 친밀도에 어떠한 영향력을 미치는가를 밝히는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이 연구를 수행하기 위하여 위해 충청남도에 소재한 유치원 3곳과 어린이집 3곳 총 6곳을 선정하여, 유아 부모 147명을 대상으로 생명 존중감 검사와 사회적 친밀도 검사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS win23에 의해 빈도분석, 교차분석, 상관분석, 중다회귀분석, t-검증, 일원변량분석이 수행되었고, 신뢰도는 Cronbach's α 계수를 산출하였다. 연구 결과, 유아의 애완동물 기르기가 생명 존중감 증진과 사회적 친밀도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 유아들의 애완동물 기르기가 유아들의 생명 존중감 향상과 사회적 친밀도를 높이는데 주요 촉진제가 됨을 실증해준 것으로 이는 유아들이 애완동물을 키우면서 상호작용을 활발하게 함으로써 교감이 쌓이는 과정을 통해 생명의 고귀함을 배우고 사회적 친밀감도 함께 증진됨을 시사한 것으로 평가할 수 있다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate what effects young children’s pet-raising have on improvement of their life esteem and social intimacy. To conduct this study, 6 places including 3 kindergartens and 3 daycare centers in South Chungcheong Province, Korea, were selected; tests of life esteem and social intimacy were careied out with 147 parents who had young children. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS win23 frequency analysis, cross tabulation analysis, correlation analysis, mutiple regression analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA; Cronbach’s α coefficients were calculated for reliability. The findings showed that young children's pet-raising had a positive effect on their life esteem improvement and social intimacy. In other words, their pet-raising is a major catalyst to improve their life esteem and social intimacy. Consequently, young children can't only learn the nobility of life, but improve their social intimacy through the process of sharing each other's feeling by actively interacting with each other when raising pets.
