<세일러 문>의 신체 변형 움직임 패턴 연구: 에포트-쉐이프 분석을 중심으로

이 논문은 ‘라반 움직임분석’의 ‘에포트-쉐이프 이론’을 토대로 일본 애니메이션 <세일러 문>의 시즌 1부터 시즌 6에 나타난 주인공의 신체 변형 움직임의 패턴을 연구하여 미학적 전략으로서의 움직임의 의미를 분석하고자 한다. <세일러 문>은 1990년대에 시각적 요소들과 서사적 구조에 관련한 담론 형성에 개입하면서 하위문화 속으로 확산되었다. 특히 <세일러 문>은 마법 소녀 애니메이션 장르를 안정적으로 발전시킨 대중적 작품으로서, 주인공 소녀의 시각적 외형은 정체성 이슈를 생산하면서 당대의 마법소녀 장르 애니메이션의 스타일에 막대한 영향력을 발휘하였다. <세일러 문>에서 주인공이 변신하는 과정 가운데 본고에서 분석한 세 단계는 ‘날아가기-마법의 힘 받기-상징적 제스처로 변신 마무리하기’ 과정이다. 이 과정들의 움직임 패턴은 각 장면의 목적에 적합하게 표현되었으며, 다양한 에포트 인자들과 쉐이프 인자들이 상호 친화적으로 융합되어 명확한 의도의 입체적인 움직임을 완성하였다. 이렇듯 <세일러 문>의 미학적 판타지 완성의 주요 동력은 바로 신체 변형의 움직임 패턴에 숨어 있었다고 말할 수 있다.
Abstract
This article inquired the transforming-body movement pattern in Japan animation <Sailor Moon> Season 1~6 and analysed its meaning as an aesthetic strategy through the Effort-Shape Theory of Laban Movement Analysis. During the 1990s <Sailor Moon> became widespread into sub-culture by shaping the discourse on the visual element and narrative structure. In particular, as the representative work with popularity, the visual appearances of main character in <Sailor Moon> have created identity issues and brought influence to bear on the style of contemporary magical girl genre animation. By using the Effort-Shape Analysis of movement, this article examined that the character girl’s movement pattern functioned as an expression of inner impulse, and analysed its signification. The various factors of movement patterns are expressed to serve the purpose of each scene effectively. Major driver and significant enabler of the perfection of aesthetic fantasy in <Sailor Moon> is hidden in the transforming-body movement pattern.
