노인의 빈곤지위와 신체적 건강, 정신적 건강 및 사회적 건강과의 관계

본 연구는 한국복지패널 2016년도의 11차년도 조사 중 65세 이상 노인의 데이터를 대상으로 빈곤 지위에 따라 신체적 건강(주관적 건강상태와 만성질환 지속기간), 정신적 건강(우울감, 자존감, 삶의 만족도), 사회적 건강(가족관계만족도, 가족갈등, 사회참여만족도)의 차이가 나는가를 밝히는데 연구의 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 노인 4,994명을 중위소득 60%를 기준으로 하여 빈곤집단과 비빈곤집단으로 나눈 뒤, 두 집단 간 차이를 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 빈곤집단 노인이 비빈곤집단 노인에 비해 주관적 건강상태가 나쁘고, 만성질환을 더 오래 앓고 있으며, 자존감이 낮고, 삶의 만족감이 낮으며, 가족 관계 만족도도 더 낮았다. 그러나 사회참여만족도는 빈곤집단 노인이 비빈곤집단 노인에 비해 더 높았고, 우울감과 가족갈등은 집단 간 차이가 유의하지 않았다. 따라서 변수에 따른 차이는 있으나 전반적으로 봤을 때 빈곤집단 노인이 비빈곤집단 노인에 비해 단순히 경제적 수준만이 아니라 신체적 건강, 정신적 건강, 사회적 건강이 열악한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 하여 빈곤노인의 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
In this study, the data of the 11th year of the Korea Welfare Panel sampling nationwide were used to divide 4.994 elderly people into poverty and non-poverty groups based on 60% of median income. Then, according to poverty status, physical Health(Subjective Health Status, chronic diseases), metal health(depression, self-esteem, life satisfaction) and social health(family satisfaction, family conflict, social participation). The results showed that the elderly in poverty group had lower subjective health status, more chronic illness, lower self - esteem, lower life satisfaction and lower family satisfaction than non - poverty elderly people. Only satisfaction of social participation was higher. In other words, the elderly in poverty are not only at an economic level compared to the elderly in a non-poverty group, but also physically, psychologically and socially unhealthy. Based on these results, we proposed a way to improve the quality of life of the elderly in poverty.
