PF-rings of Generalized Power Series

Abstract

In this paper, we show that ifR is a commutative ring with identity and (S; )is a strictly totally ordered monoid, then the ring [[RS; ]] of generalized power series is aPF-ring if and only if for any twoS-indexed subsetsA and B ofR such thatB ann R(A),there existsc 2 ann R(A) such thatbc= b for allb 2 B, and that for a Noetherian ringR,[[RS; ]] is a PP ring if and only ifR is a PP ring.
