Abstract

The formation of industry at Seoul in the 1930s'-1940s' shows us the colonial features well. It had been reorganized into the war industry. many large factories, especially the spinning and weaving factories had been sudden increased at the Yeongdeungpo. The woman labourers had been increased at the 1930s'. And they had been absorbed into the large factories like the spinning and weaving factories. The life of women labourers went from bad to worse, and could not solve the problem of reproducing labourers. The low wages went to worse miserably. The working hours went to lengthen, according to the research of the colonial government-general it was 12 hours more than. And it was the unacceptable working conditions of the factories. The temperature in the workplace of the spinning and weaving factories where were worked reduced the labour efficiency, and it was so face an increased risk of heart disease that there health went bad. Besides beating, ill-treatment, scorn made the them impossible reproduction of labour. The boarding house were the place whee the labour turnover were restricted and absentee rate were raised, and military disciplines carried through. In shortly, the factories were no better than a jail from the view of the life of women labourers. Especially, most of them were the unskilled laborers. Nevertheless the common experience from the life and the working conditions of the factories reinforced the identities as the working class.
