군산의료원과 남원의료원의 운영효율성 비교

본 연구에서는 환경변수들이 규모수익가변 효율성점수에 미치는 효과를 조정함으로써 군산의료원과 남원의료원의 운영효율성을 비교했다. 특히 본 논문은 산출물로 전통적인 수익성지표뿐만 아니라 안전성 및 공공성지표를 포함했다. 본 연구결과 중 주목할 사항은 민간위탁으로 인해 군산의료원의 운영효율성이 남원의료원보다 매우 크게 낮아졌다는 점이다. 환경변수들이 지방의료원의 운영효율성에 미치는 영향을 통제하기 전과 통제한 한 후 군산의료원과 남원의료원의 운영효율성을 비교한 결과 군산의료원의 운영효율성이 크게 높아진 반면 남원의료원의 운영효율성은 크게 낮아진 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 운영유형과 같은 환경변수가 군산의료원과 남원의료원의 운영효율성에 매우 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study compared the managerial efficiencies of Gunsan and Namwon medical centers in Korea by adjusting the variable returns-to-scale(VRS) efficiency scores for environmental variables. In particular, this paper included both safety and publicness measures as well as a traditional profitability measure as outputs. A noticeable point of empirical results is that the managerial efficiency of Gunsan medical center largely lowered due to contracting-out, as compared with that of Namwon medical center. The result of comparing the managerial efficiencies of Gunsan and Namwon medical centers not controlled for environmental variables with those corrected for them shows that while the managerial efficiency of Gunsan medical center largely rose, that of Namwon medical center greatly fell, which indicates an environmental variable such as the type of operation has a dominant influence on the managerial efficiencies of Gunsan and Namwon medical centers.
