초록
This study was designed to compare effects of wobble boards on the lower extremity muscles while performing single-leg squats (SLSQ). Twenty healthy females performed SLSQ exercises on three surfaces: a stable surface, a single wobble board, and dual wobble boards. Muscle activities of the gluteus medius (GMed), tensor fascia lata (TFL), and vastus medialis oblique (VMO) and lateralis (VL) were measured by surface electromyography. On the single and dual wobble boards, the electrical activity in the GMed increased significantly compared with that on a stable surface (p<.05). The activity of the TFL on a single wobble board increased significantly compared with that on stable surface and dual wobble boards (p<.05). No significant difference in the VMO to VL ratio. These findings indicate that performing SLSQ on dual wobble boards facilitates the activity of the GMed by reducing the activity of the TFL.
