Abstract
This study aimed to the effects of upper extremity function and activities of daily living of stroke patients on functional activities according to posture changes. Thirty stroke patients with a duration longer than 6 months who were divided into two groups of 15 patients each selected randomly according to selection criteria. Functional activities in standing and sitting postures were conducted for 8 weeks with them. FMA and CMS-10 were used to study the upper extremity function, while posture changes in ADL were measured using MBI and MAL, and the study results are as follows. Comparisons of upper extremity function and activities of daily living of stroke patients after functional activites according to posture changes indicated significant differences for each group(p<.05). FMA, CMS-10, MBI, MAL used to study changes in functional movement of upper extremity for two groups, there was a significant difference between the two groups(p<.05). In conclusion, these results suggest that it can be seen that functional activities in the standing posture had effects on enhancement in upper extremity function and activities of daily living of stroke patients. Therefore it may be concluded that functional activities in the standing posture applied to stroke patients is one of the effective methods of treatment for upper extremity function and activities of daily living of stroke patients.
