Abstract
While Japanese rapprochement towards NS‐guided Germany in the period between World War I and World War II in several respects had broad impotance on modernization, respectivly on reform proces of the state, at the same time, National‐Socialist’s military and cultural expansion politics. The principle of internal NS cultural policies in this case has also been required for the relations to Japan in the context of an uncompromising NS cultural imperialism. The National Socialist Propaganda just as their cultural policies towards Japan on the occasion of the Anti‐Comintern Pact of the year 1936 and the cultural agreement of the year 1938 have been integrated into both, anticommunism and anti‐semitism. While anticommunism as a common realistic‐politics‐interest of both contries was developing above the level of politics becoming cultural cooperation, in anti‐semitism the NS regime could not find a base for common foreign policies between NS‐Germany and Japan. So, after the Five Minister’s Coference in the end of 1938, the NS‐Regime contrived new anti‐Jewish forign policies relative to the east‐Asian empire by an immediate ideological connection with antikomminism. In the context of the Three‐Powers Pact in 1940, NS‐Government aimed to expose anti‐semitism as one of the Cultural Axis “Berlin‐Rome‐Tokyo‘s” crucial cultural, respectively ideological principles. National socialist axis policies towards Japan, with this, have been devised in the narrow context with the reform/policies of the Konoe‐Cabinet in the since of “Great‐East‐Asian” and also in cintext with the increasing Jewish refugees’ crowds in the Japanese occupation zones situated on the Chinese continent. However, for National Socialist’s side the relations especially between the axis‐powers Germany and Japan never could be one on equal rights based partnership, but an asymmetric relation between a “culture creator” (Germany) and a “culture bearer” (Japan). From the German’s point of view, antikommunism and anti‐semitism also in the domain of Cultural‐Foreign‐Policies towards Japan have undoubtedly been an important ideolgical presupposition for the achievement of the NS‐cultural imperialism.
