16-17세기 福建 海商의 呂宋 교역과 교섭 — 漳州 船商 船主를 중심으로 —

Abstract

In 1603, a massacre of Chinese broke out in Luzon island, and its casualty amounted to over 20 thousands. The relationship between Ming and Manila temporarily got worse, but in 1604 a group of Fujianese maritime merchants tried to alleviate the problem. They were the merchants who were involved in the Fujian-Luzon trade. Among them Guansan, Guachuan, and Sinu were recorded in some Spanish documents, and their names were found in a petition written in 1598, and their names were 環山, 月泉, and 愼予. Especially, Guansan was an agency who carried letters written by Fujian governor and censor and sent them to the govenor-general of the Philippine islands. From this, it is clear how the group of Fujianese maritime merchants were organized from the end of 16th century to the beginning of the 17th century.
