Abstract
Hyojong(孝宗) moved the palace from Changdeokgung(昌德宮) to Gyeongdeokgung(慶德宮) to repair the palace that had been defiled by the curse incident. Ingyeonggung(仁慶宮) next to Gyeongdeokgung(慶德宮) was the bathing place of Queen Jangnyeol(莊烈王后) and the princess's house. And the son-in-law's family became Hyojong's central ministers. After returning to Changdeokgung, Hyojong built Mansujeon(萬壽殿) for Queen Jangnyeol. Most of the repairs to Mansujeon were done by the ministers of Hyojong's son-in-law's family. And Hyojong built buildings in Changgyeonggung(昌慶宮) for his sons-in-law. He planned to conquer the Qing with the ministers of his son-in-law's family. However, they opposed conquering the Qing. Hyojong was disappointed and discussed conquering the Qing with Song Siyeol(宋時烈). Song Siyeol insisted on withdrawing the benefits of the son-in-law's family at that time. The royal women's space was created to foster Hyojong's political power. However, Hyojong's plan failed, and he planned to conquer the Qing with Song Siyeol, but the plan was thwarted by his sudden death.
