습지정원 활용을 위한 소규모 마을습지 분포와 주민인식 조사 연구 - 충청남도 서천군을 대상으로 -

Abstract

The study was carried out with the aim of preserving village wetlands and for efficient use in the future by understanding how small-scale village wetlands are distributed in Seocheon-gun and by conducting perception survey of village residents. 158 locations were selected for the study and we confirmed how village wetlands and the surrounding land were in use. We also studied differences in villagers’ perception depending on wether the target locations were in use or not. To study villagers’ perception, we have visited the villages and conducted a survey with 40 villagers who were both users and non-users of wetlands. The questionnaire included questions on conservation of natural ecosystems, wetland awareness, village wetland awareness, village wetland protection and necessity. The research results are as follows. First, we examined the use of wetlands and the use of surrounding land with 158 village wetlands that were finally identified. As a result, much of wetland was used as an agricultural resin (73%), followed by a pond (13%). As rice paddies, fields and forests are widely distributed due to the use of surrounding land, (Second, looking at the relationship between wetland use and surrounding land use, wetland function, form, and vegetation were diverse as the use of the surrounding land was different, even if the use of wetland was the same.?) Third, reliability analysis, independent sample t-test and frequency analysis were conducted to identify differences in recognition of wetland use. The result showed that there was a difference in the perception of villagers according to their experience of using wetlands or not and both group of respondents said that they should preserve village wetlands because they are assets to be preserved for the future, and educational activities to increase awareness of local residents are needed for wise use of village wetlands. Based on our research results, villagers’ perception on wetland was important in order to utilize various village wetlands as wetland gardens. In the future, it is necessary to study educational programs to improve awareness on village wetland in the follow-up studies, and furthermore, it is necessary to expand and apply research across the country in addition to Seocheon-gun.
