Abstract
This paper examines the differences between spoken and written language and analyzes specifically spoken and written English with the actual samples. During this research, it has been found that speakers and writers usually have a different relationship to their respective audience. In English, syntactic differences are distinguished, making more involvement between the speaker and the listener, and more detachment between the text and the audience. Even though the gap is getting narrower because of technology, it should be considered that there are still a lot of students who have difficulty in writing due to the differences between spoken and written language.
