초록
On the basis of Arlenga(2005) and Dubinsky & Davies (2006), this squib assumes that the preverbal CP, so called sentential subject, originates as a CP with a DP-shell the head of which is null. It is argued that the topic-like behavior as well as the subject-like properties discussed in Arelenga(2005) and Dubinsky & Davies(2006) can be accounted for in terms of parallel movement presented in Chomsky(2005): the null DP and CP undergo parallel movement to [Spec,TP] and [Spec,CP], respectively. The limited distribution of the preverbal CP is ascribed to the fact that this CP is base generated as a complement of a head that selects a DP, that movement of CP to [Spec,CP] blocks further projection of a higher CP, and that CPs cannot be Case-marked.
