초록
Many previous studies have investigated the relationship between foreign language abilities and learning styles. The present study aims to examine the relationship between learning styles and reading abilities, with respect to scanning and skimming abilities. The participants were 20 high-advanced level Korean EFL learners enrolled in a regular credit course at a university. The instrument used to measure left/ right-brain dominance, one of the domains of learning styles, was the formal self-check inventories revised by Brown (2002). The analyses of correlation coefficients showed that both the relationships between left/right-brain dominance and scanning and skimming abilities were not statistically significant. These results indicate that high-advanced level learners do not need any strategies- based instruction
