Abstract
Cognitive semantics is related to pragmatics. The way for the cognitive system to be expressed is not different from the way it is expressed in pragmatics. These linguistic aspects can be found both in cognitive expressions and in expressions of discourse. They are bound up with each other, from the process where the things in this world are recognized to the process of utterance. That’s why cognitive elements and pragmatic elements should be examined together. The cognitive expressions on the basis of conceptualization such as figure․ground, metaphor, metonymy and meaning shift are mixed with pragmatic factors. They appear in the relation between figurative speech and implicature, in the relation between figure․ground and implicature, and in the relation between meaning shift and implicature. Added to these, the concepts are in the entailment of cognitive expressions as well as the change of discourse elements into Figure and the change of discourse into Figure.
