Abstract
This study examines the relationships between sports diplomacy and hard/soft power in G20 countries. It shows the validity of argument that there is a big discrepancy between the two powers in some of G20 countries. G20 countries such as China, India, and Russia as hard powers are facing serious corruption problems which prevent politico-economic development and social consensus in the long run. Also, Russia and China are in low levels of political democratization. Their global leadership and national prestige will hinge on their success and failure of fighting against corruption and progressing toward democratization. Sports diplomacy shows characteristics of hard and soft powers together.
