논의기반 탐구 수업 실행과 동료 평가를 포함한 학습 경험이 예비 화학 교사의 과학 탐구 교수효능감에 미치는 영향

이 연구는 예비 화학 교사의 논의기반 탐구(Argument-Based Inquiry, ABI) 수업 경험과 동료수업 평가 활동을 포함한 일련의 학습 경험이 과학 탐구 교수효능감에 미치는 영향을 탐색하고자 수행되었다. 광역시에 위치한 국립대학교 사범대학 화학교육과 3학년 학생 23명을 대상으로 ABI를 적용한 수업실행을 하고, 사전, 사후에 실시한 과학 탐구 교수효능감 검사지와 동료수업 평가일지를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, ABI 수업 경험과 동료수업 평가 활동은 과학 탐구의 주요 하위 영역(질문 참여 유도, 증거 활용 기대, 설명 공식화, 과학적 개념 연결, 설명 전달 및 정당화)에서 유의미한 효능감 향상을 가져왔으며, 전반적인 교수 자기효능감과 교수 결과기대감 역시 상승시키는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 ABI의 각 수업 단계가 과학 탐구 요소를 모두 포함하기 때문으로 보여진다. 이를 통해 논의기반 탐구 수업이 예비 화학 교사의 과학 탐구 교수효능감 강화에 효과적인 교수 학습 전략임을확인하였으며, 체계적인 실습 중심 교육과 반성적 수업 평가 활동의 중요성을 제시하였다. 향후 연구에서는 예비 화학 교사의실제 수업 수행 능력과 반성적 실천의 질적 변화를 종합적으로 분석하여 논의기반 탐구 수업 경험의 실질적 효과를 규명할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
This study explored the effects of pre-service chemistry teachers’ Argument-Based Inquiry (ABI) teaching experiences and peer lesson evaluation activities on their science inquiry teaching efficacy. Twenty-three third-year chemistry education majors at a national university in a metropolitan city participated in ABI-based teaching practice and completed pre- and post-tests using a science inquiry teaching efficacy scale, along with peer evaluation journals. Results showed significant efficacy improvements in key inquiry domains, including eliciting student questions, expecting evidence use, formulating explanations, connecting scientific concepts, and delivering and justifying explanations. Overall teaching self-efficacy and teaching outcome expectancy also increased. These outcomes appear to result from the fact that each stage of the ABI model encompasses all elements of scientific inquiry. The findings confirm that the ABI model is an effective instructional strategy for strengthening pre-service chemistry teachers’ science inquiry teaching efficacy and highlight the importance of practiceoriented education and reflective lesson evaluation. Future research should comprehensively examine classroom performance and the quality of reflective practice to clarify the practical impact of ABI experiences.
