초록
Weishu Xiyuzhuan[魏書 西域傳] is an official history completed during the Northern Wei Dynasty[北魏] in China, which disappeared and was restored during the Tang Dynasty[唐], and deals with a rich explanation of Western countries[西域] and a rich source of data on various aspects, including their culture, politics, and economy. The Tangut[拓拔], who founded the Northern Wei Dynasty, succeeded the Sinocentrism and made the Western Regions into a heterogeneous space through the Weishu Xiyuzhuan, which played an important role in establishing their identity and legitimacy as Xianbei people[鮮卑], not as a Han Chinese[漢]. At that time, the Northern Wei Tangut wanted to actively absorb and inherit the historical and cultural traditions of the Han Chinese and strengthen their position as a powerhouse in the central district. This paper focused on how the political and historical intentions of the Northern Wei Dynasty appear in the Western Regions. In other words, it was analyzed whether they emphasized their superiority and centrality by internalizing the central district-centered worldview and setting the West as a heterogeneous space distinguished from China, and the following conclusions were drawn. As a result, it can be argued that the Weishu Xiyuzhuan is valuable as a historical document that goes beyond simple geographical and cultural records and reflects the process by which the Northern Regime creates its legitimacy and establishes itself as the center of the Chinese world.
