초록

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) are a network of an inexpensive low coverage, sensing, and computation nodes. The major difference between the WSNs and the traditional wireless networks is that sensors are extremely sensitive to energy consumption. Energy saving is the important issue in designing the wireless sensor networks. The cluster-based WSNs including a network sensing area are divided into many clusters. And, the very well known technique in cluster-based WSN is especially the low energy adaptive cluster hierarchy(LEACH) and its energy performance is improved due to the hierarchical clustering, probability, and random. But, depending on the problem of the LEACH protocol, with the predetermined probability and random, every round in the WSNs has the different cluster numbers and cluster heads. So, in this paper, an improved algorithm for Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH) protocol is proposed. The improved LEACH protocol for Clustered Wireless Sensor Networks is aimed at prolonging the lifetime of the sensor networks by balancing the energy consumption of the nodes. Therefore, in order to consume the energy of the nodes balancedly, this paper uses an optimal number for cluster that is to analyze the entire network first to have the optimal cluster numbers and then apply it to form the optimal cluster numbers. Simulation results using MATLAB show that the proposed LEACH algorithm significantly reduces energy consumption and increase the total lifetime of the wireless sensor network.
