Minimum ignition energy is the threshold of energy required to induce a combustion reaction of a combustible mixture. The minimum ignition energy has different values for each combustible mixture and the concentration of fuel in the combustible mixture. In this study, the energy value of a spherical flame system with the quenching distance as the diameter was investigated to calculate the minimum ignition energy. The energy values of hydrogen-air combustible mixtures and methane-air combustible mixtures were investigated and compared with the minimum ignition energy values reported in prior literature.
Abstract
Minimum ignition energy is the threshold of energy required to induce a combustion reaction of a combustible mixture. The minimum ignition energy has different values for each combustible mixture and the concentration of fuel in the combustible mixture. In this study, the energy value of a spherical flame system with the quenching distance as the diameter was investigated to calculate the minimum ignition energy. The energy values of hydrogen-air combustible mixtures and methane-air combustible mixtures were investigated and compared with the minimum ignition energy values reported in prior literature.
