초록

This study designs and evaluates a rice seedling tray optimized for sparse planting, building on the Rural Development Administration’s partition‑combined tray(Design No. 3010575230000). Conventional trays frequently cause root entanglement, insufficient drainage, and uneven seedling distribution, resulting in inferior seedling quality and missing hills. To overcome these limitations, we developed a new tray using three‑dimensional modeling and finite element analysis(FEA) to ensure structural stability and fabricated a prototype with recycled polypropylene(PP). Seedling cultivation tests evaluated germination rate, root growth, seedling height, and the separation load of seedling mats. Results indicate that the proposed tray achieves an optimal cell depth(5–7 mm), improves drainage performance, and significantly reduces missing hills relative to conventional trays. Additionally, corner drainage holes effectively prevented root rot. The optimized tray reduces labor requirements and improves economic efficiency, demonstrating practical potential for widespread adoption of sparse planting in rice cultivation.
