초록
This paper aims to reveal the effects of Korean dance on the welfare and quality of life of middle-aged women as their leisure activities. The independent variable of Korean dancing activities, the mediator of welfare, and the dependent variables of subjective welfare and quality of life were investigated. The subjects were 200 women in middle age learning Korean dance as of July 2007 in Seoul's department store cultural centers in Gangnam-gu, Seocho-gu, Seongbuk-gu, and Songpa-gu as well as the National Theater. 196 questionnaires were finally retrieved and used in the present research. The investigation tools in this study were the in-depth analysis results of personal interviews with 14 middle-aged women learning Korean dance as leisure activities as well as Im Yeong-heui's (2005) questionnaire about the correlations between dancing and well-being culture, complemented after a test on credibility and validity. Two data processing, credibility analysis (cronbach's a-coefficient), factor analysis, and covariance structure analysis were given. The following findings were obtained: 1. The well-being recognition of middle-aged women according to Korean dancing activities has something to do with subjective well-being. Namely, considering well-being part of cultural life has an effect on physical changes in subjective well-being. 2. The quality of life has something to do with middle-aged women's well-being perception according to Korean dancing activities. In other words, practicing well-being influences the satisfaction with positive changes of life. Therefore, middle-aged women in Korea regard well-being as cultural life, attain physical well-being effects through Korean dance, and result in positive changes of life. In sum, Korean dancing activities are thought to have the greatest effect on the sense of satisfaction in the quality of life.
