Abstract
Froth flotation of molybdenite from Dong-won NMC has been performed to produce the high-grade and low-cost molybdenite concentrate through multistage grinding process. The optimum particle size to apply of multistage grinding flotation was under 48mesh, which can obtain over 95% recovery from rougher. Liberation of rougher concentrate was the most effective at the regrinding time of 3 minutes, and the mean particle size (D50) was 16.5 ㎛. The natural pH of pulp was 8.7, showing that the effect of calcium oxide (CaO) due to calcite-skarn deposits. In rougher, the flotation efficiency of molybdenite considerably depended on the concentration of collector (kerosene, 75 g/t), the frother (AF65, 75 g/t), the depressant (Na_2SiO_3, 1.25 kg/t), pH 10 and pulp (20%). In clean prepared by regrounding rougher concentrate for 3 minutes, a Mo grade of 55.5% (MoS_2, 92.7%) and a recovery of 94% could be successfully obtained under the condition of 10g/t kerosene, 30 g/t AF65, 200 g/t Na_2SiO_3, pH 10 and 1 cleaning time.
