Abstract
Mine drainage discharged from abandoned mines are causing a lot of pollution. Conventional lime dosing process is generates a lot of waste due to the generation of the sludge in the process. Therefore, this study aims to assess the feasibility of both treating the mine drainage while recovering individual metals and decreasing the amount of waste by decreasing the amount of sludge. In order to selectively recovery Fe and Al in the coal mine drainage as high-purity precipitation, we installed a SSP(selective sequential precipitation) system with a buffer tank. The recovery rate and purity of the precipitates were evaluated from field measurement and chemical analysis. We also evaluated the recovery rate and the purity of Fe and Al. The recovery rate of Fe and Al are 99.68~99.70 and 75.00~81.82%, respectively. The purity of Fe and Al was determined to be 96.05~97.61% and 81.01~97.48%, respectively.
