초록
Managing the reactor reactivity is a crucial process in the reactor operation. Therefore, there are persistent and ongoing efforts to search for effective ways to control the excess reactivity in supercritical water reactors (SCWR) that is considered one of the most promising nuclear reactors in the Generation IV reactors. In this work, various materials including Gadolinium, Erbium and Dysprosium have been examined as burnable absorbers (BAs) in the form of integral burnable absorbers (IBAs). Monte Carlo code, specifically MCNPX edition 2.7 was used to model a 3D of SCWR. The main neutronic parameters of the SCWR loaded with the proposed BAs in a separate operation process have been analyzed. The infinite multiplication factor (kinf) of the suggested cases has been compared with that without BA to analyze the effect of the BA materials on the reactivity. The effect of the suggested BAs on the fuel constituents, generated Pu isotopes, some of the effective fission products, radioactivity of the spent fuel, safety parameters and radial power distribution has been analyzed to determine the optimum case. The results assure the effectiveness of using Erbium and Dysprosium as a BA in suppressing the SCWR’s excess reactivity.
