이 연구는 웹을 기반으로 하는 온라인 수업의 보편화가 이루어지고 있는 상황임에도 불구하고 시험은 주로 강의실에서 이루어지고 있다는데 주목하고 시험도 온라인으로 자연스럽게 치러질 수 있어야 한다는 인식에서 출발하였다. 강의실 수업 후, 온라인과 강의실 시험의 차이를 비교하여 온라인 시험에 대한 적절성의 근거를 찾고자 하였다. 대학2학년생들을 대상으로 학기 초에 사전검사를 실시하고 처치 과정으로 강의실 수업이 이루어진 뒤, 학기말에 사후검사를 실시하였다. 학생들의 학업성취 정도를 알아보기 위하여 동일한 교과목 수강생들을 대상으로 하고, 온라인으로 시험을 치룬 결과와 강의실에서 전통적 시험을 치룬 결과와의 차이를 알아본 것이다. 연구 결과는 첫째, 학습자들의 선수학습 수준이 동일한 상태에서 강의실 수업의 처치과정을 거쳐 이루어진 온라인과 강의실 시험 방식에 따른 학업성취의 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 성별에 따른 온라인과 강의실 시험의 학업성취의 차이는 남자와 여자 모두 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 온라인 사후-사전검사 차이와 강의실 사후-사전검사 차이의 학업성취 점수에 대한 차이도 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 온라인 시험의 신뢰도가 보장된다는 경험적 증거를 마련해주고 있으며, 나아가 온라인 교육의 타당성 및 적절성에 대한 하나의 근거를 제공한다.
Abstract
The study was done to explore the difference between on-line and classroom (off-line) examination. The subjects of the study were the 70 sophomores in the 'sociology of education' class of "K" University. A quasi-experimental research design was used. At the beginning of the class the pre-test by off-line examination was given to all students(70), and then at the end of the class the post-tests were given by on-line examination to one group(30) and classroom (off-line) examination to another group(40) for evaluation of academic achievement. The results of the study were as follows: First, there was no statistically significant difference in the pre-test and the post-test between the test scores of the group given on-line examination and the test scores of the another group given off-line examination. Second, there was no statistically significant difference between on-line and off-line examination in different gender groups. Third, there was no statistically significant difference between post-test score and pre-test score in the on-line and off-line groups. This results imply that there is a possibility to use on-line examination instead of off-line examination for educational evaluation in the school. Therefore it is necessary for teachers to have positive attitude to the on-line examination, and to use and applicate various teaching and evaluation methods to enhance the effectiveness of education in rapidly changing school environment.
