조립제조산업에서의 자재분류 요인분석에 관한 사례연구

원자재 재고는 완제품과 달리 기업 내부의 생산 대응측면에서 관리되기 때문에 문제가 발생해도 부각되지 않는 측면이 있으나, 원자재 재료비는 기업원가의 큰 부문을 차지하고 있어 재고관리 수준에 따른 손익 민감도 영향이 상대적으로 크다. 본 연구는 MRP 시스템을 적용하고 있는 조립제조기업의 사례를 통해 원자재 특성에 따라 자재를 분류, 관리하는 새로운 방법론을 제시하였다. 조립제조산업의 원자재 관리상 주요 이슈로는 첫째, 다수의 자재를 한정된 인력으로 취급하기 때문에 업무효율이 저하되고, 둘째, 발주한 자재에 대한 공급업체 납기관리가 어려우며, 셋째, 이러한 결과로 원자재 재고는 증가하는 반면 생산현장에서 필요한 자재를 적기에 불출하지 못해 비효율이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 사례기업에서 구매하고 있는 모든 자재 아이템들을 대상으로 재고관리에 영향을 미치는 자재분류의 주요 공통요인을 도출하고, 사례기업의 실제 데이터를 활용하여 자재분류의 타당성을 통계적으로 검증하였다. 또한 검증된 자재분류 요인을 기준으로 자재아이템들을 유사 특성별로 분류하고 집계하는데 적용하고, 그 결과 취급 자재아이템별 관리대상의 감소에 따른 구매부문 업무량 감소 등과 같은 재고관리업무의 효율성 제고를 실증 분석하였다. 아울러, 분류된 자재그룹을 기준으로 자재그룹별 특성을 고려한 차별화된 재고관리 방식을 제시하였다.
Abstract
Unlike inventory of finished products, less attention has not been paid to that of raw materials even if it is more important in terms of cost in the production process of the assembly manufacturing industry. In general, the material cost has a strong influence on sensitivity analysis for profit and loss because it occupies most of total cost. This study presents a new method for the classification and inventory management of raw materials with a case study in which the method is applied to a real world operation of an assembly manufacturing company. The method includes classification by material characteristics and suggestion of more suitable inventory management for the classified material groups. Significance between classification factors is evaluated based on a regression analysis and applicability of the method proposed in this research is proved with real data collected from the assembly manufacturing company. The results of the study show that it is more effective to manage inventory of raw materials by classifying its characteristics and to apply different inventory control methods for different material groups.
