초록
Objective: This study evaluated the relationship between awareness of stroke warning symptoms and sociodemographic factors in adults in the community. Methods: Among the subjects who participated in the Community Health Survey, 218,530 people (2018) and 231,106 people (2023) were included in the final analysis subjects. The relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and awareness of stroke warning symptoms was evaluated using chi-square test, analysis of variance, and logistic regression analysis. Results: The overall awareness rate of stroke warning symptoms of the subjects was 49.6% in 2018 and 58.8% in 2023, increasing by 9.2%p during the period. In both 2018 and 2023, the awareness rate of speech disorder was the highest, followed by dizziness, hemiplegia, severe headache, and visual impairment. As a result of logistic regression analysis, the awareness of stroke warning symptoms was significantly lower for males, young and old, those without spouses, those with low education, those with low household income, those in mechanical and manual labors and those in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, and those living in the urban. Although the significant sociodemographic factors related to awareness of stroke warning symptoms were similar in 2018 and 2023, the gap in awareness of stroke warning symptoms by each demographic characteristic was slightly larger in 2023 compared to 2018. Conclusion: Awareness of stroke warning symptoms showed significant differences by sociodemographic characteristics in community. It is necessary to understand the characteristics of subjects with low awareness of stroke warning symptoms and develop community intervention strategies to improve awareness in these vulnerable groups.
