초록
Objective: This study aimed to identify individual-level and regional-level factors influencing unmet dental care needs among older adults through narrative review. Methods: A systematic search was conducted for literature published between 2014 and 2023 using 2 Korean databases (RISS and KISS) and 2 international databases (PubMed and Web of Science). A total of 2,979 original articles were identified, of which 22 met the inclusion criteria for this review. Results: The analysis of selected studies revealed that unmet dental care needs in older adults are affected by individual socioeconomic status and oral health status. Additionally regional economic conditions and structural social capital were found to be critical contextual factors influencing unmet dental care needs among older adults. Conclusion: The findings of this study can be used to inform policy development and guide future research to improve dental care accessibility for older adults within their communities.
