서울 지역의 베이비붐세대 유출과 에코세대 유입의 동태적 관계에 대한 연구

본 연구는 서울 지역의 베이비붐세대의 유출과 에코세대의 유입현상으로부터 베이비붐세대와 에코세대 인구이동의 상호관계와 이들의 인구이동에 따른 다른 세대의 인구이동과의 관계를 분석하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 2004~2011년간 서울의 19개 구를 대상으로 패널 벡터 오차 수정 모형을 통한 분석을 수행하였다. 실증분석을 통한 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 베이비붐세대와 에코세대의 인구이동 간의 상호관계는 서울 지역으로부터 베이비붐세대가 유출되는 경우 그 효과로 인해 에코세대가 해당 지역으로 유입하는 반면, 에코세대가 유입하는 경우 베이비붐세대는 유출하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 베이비붐세대, 에코세대와 다른 세대의 인구이동 간의 관계는 베이비붐세대가 유출하는 경우 2차 베이비붐세대와 해방세대는 기존 유출량이 다소 완화되며, 에코세대가 유입하는 경우 2차 베이비붐세대와 해방세대는 기존 유출량보다 더욱 많이 유출하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 기존 베이비붐세대의 인구이동 연구에서 고려할 수 없었던 베이비붐세대와 에코세대, 그리고 다른 세대의 인구이동을 동태적 관계 속에서 분석하였다는데 의의를 둘 수 있다.
Abstract
The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship among migrations of the baby-boomer (born in 1955-1964), the echo-generation (born in 1979-1992), and other generations in Seoul. To measure the intergenerational relationship, panel vector error correction model is applied to migrations of the different generations in and out of Seoul during the period of 2004-2011. The result presented us with two key findings. First, while the baby-boomer’s outflow from a region is followed by the echo-generation’s flow into the region, the echo-generation’s inflow to a region accompanies the outflow of the baby-boomer from the same region. Secondly, both the aging generation (born in 1941-1954) and the 2nd baby-boomer (born in 1965-1978) migrate in the opposite direction to the baby-boomer and the echo-generation. Such findings indicate that there are dynamic intergenerational relationship among migrations of the different generations. Thus, since the baby-boomer started to retire, which is projected to continue for another decade, intergenerational relationship among migrations of the different generations will become a crucial social issue.
