일반대학 교과유형별 취업 영향요인에 관한 연구 : 정규교과, 공동교과, 비교과 유형을 중심으로

A study on the factors affecting employment by activities of higher education: Focusing on curriculum, co-curricular, and extracurricular experiences

초록

본 연구는 일반대학 졸업자의 취업에 영향을 미치는 교과유형별 요인을 알아보고자 하였다. 교과유형은 재학 중 경험하는 교과의 공식성 여부, 학점인정 여부, 비용투입의 주체를 기준으로 하여, 정규교과, 공동교과, 비교과로 구분하였 다. 정규교과는 학점인정 교과이며, 공동교과는 학점이 인정되지 않지만 학교에서 공식적으로 개발, 운영하는 취업 관련 프로그램을 의미한다. 이에 비해 비교과는 학생의 비용이 투입되며, 학교 내부와 외부에서 참여하는 과외활동이 포함된다. 분석 대상은 한국고용정보원 대졸자직업이동경로조사(GOMS)의 4년제 일반대학 졸업생 자료를 활용하였다. 교과유형별 취업 영향요인을 비교하기 위하여, 위계적 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 모형 1의 정규교과 중에서는 복수전공 이수와 진로취업관련교과 참여가 취업에 유의하였다. 둘째, 모형 2에서 정규교과와 공동교과를 함께 투입한 결과, 유의미한 정규교과는 복수전공이었으며, 공동교과 중에는 면접기술·이력서작성교육, 취업캠프, 직장체험프로그램이었다. 셋째, 모든 교과유형이 포함된 모형 3에서는 직업훈련교육, 대외활동, 취업캠프, 공모전수상, 취업서류작성교육 순으로 취업에 정적 영향이 있었으며, 외국어공부와 기업채용설명회는 부적 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 정규교과와 공동교과보다는 비교과 요인의 영향력이 상대적으로 높았으며, 주로 직무능력과 직접적으로 관련되거나 구직기술에 해당하는 프로그램이 취업에 유의했다. 본 연구는 취업 영향요인에 대하여 대학의 운영측면과 학생참여 경험을 종합적으로 살펴보는 접근을 했으며, 연구결과를 토대로 향후 일반대학 재학생의 진로 및 취업에 효과적인 교과 운영전략 수립에 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors of university activities that influence employment, which were classified into curriculum, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities based on formality, the subject of cost input, and grades. The curricula are courses for grades, and co-curricular activities do not involve grades, but university employment programs. The extracurricular activities include participation both inside and outside of the university. Data from the 2019 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (2018 GOMS) were used. A hierarchical logistic regression analysis was conducted to compare the factors influencing employment through diverse activities. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, in Model 1, the double major and curriculum for career exploration were statistically significant in employment. Second, in Model 2, double major, interview and resume writing programs, employment camps, and work experience programs were verified. Third, in Model 3, employment camps, winning the contests, external activities, resume writing programs, and vocational training positively affected employment. This study found that the influence of extracurricular activities was greater than that of curriculum and co-curricular activities. These factors are related to actual jobs and job-seeking skills. The study was analyzed in term of both students' activities experience and university's operation which provided comprehensive perspective on the factors influencing employment. This study provides implications for establishing effective university operational strategies for careers and employment.
