Abstract

This study explores elementary school teachers’ perceptions of the educational effects of EdTech utilization through in-depth qualitative analysis. The study is guided by two research questions: (1) What are the educational effects of using EdTech? (2) What conditions are necessary to enhance these effects? Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 elementary school teachers. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis method, resulting in six main themes and twenty sub-themes. The findings suggest that EdTech serves as a "double-edged sword," offering both benefits and challenges for students and teachers. While EdTech was perceived to expand learning opportunities for all students and enhance teachers' instructional competencies, concerns emerged regarding the uncertain impact on learning outcomes and growing disparities among teachers in terms of EdTech experience and competency. The study also highlights the importance of fostering a positive teacher mindset and improving teaching and learning conditions to fully realize the benefits of EdTech. These findings highlight the need for open discussions and empirical research on the educational implications of EdTech, particularly in addressing inequalities across schools, teachers, and students.
