공학인의 양성에서 기능교육 못지않게 직업윤리교육이 요구된다. 공학인들의 판단은 단순한 기술적 판단이 아니라 사회적 책임을 깊이 인식하는 도덕적 판단이어야 하기 때문이다. 황우석 교수 사태를 비롯해서 과거 우리사회에서 일어났던 백화점 붕괴, 교각 붕괴 등 공학적 실패사례들을 봐도 공학인들의 판단에 있어서 도덕 판단이 얼마나 중요한가를 짐작할 수 있게 한다. 본 연구는 공학윤리교육의 정당성을 확보하기 위해서 공학윤리교수프로그램을 고찰했다. 공학윤리 교과의 개설이 국내 여러 대학으로 확산되고 있지만, 체계적으로 이루어지지 못하고 있다. 과목의 성격, 내용, 방법에 대한 논의조차 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공학윤리의 목적과 성격을 명료화 하고, 공학윤리교육을 누가 담당해야 하며, 어떤 내용을 구성하여 어떻게 가르쳐야 하는지에 대해 논지를 구축하고자 했다, 공학인들이 도덕 판단과 실천을 할 수 있도록 하는 것은 공학교육인증제에서 요구하고 있는 인문학적 소양을 기르는데 있어서 중핵적 요소라고 할 수 있다. 공학인들에게 예방윤리적 측면에서 윤리교육을 시행하는 것은 인류의 재앙을 막는 근본적인 대책중의 하나가 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 공학윤리교육의 방향으로 인문학적 소양을 기를 수 있는 한국형 공학윤리교육 프로그램을 시행해야 한다는 제안을 했다. 구체적 방안으로는 기존의 사례중심의 교수법과 함께 인문학적 경험을 할 수 있는 이야기를 활용한 방법을 제시했다.
Abstract
A Study on Teaching PrograA Study on Teaching Program in Engineering Ethics Professional ethics education is more important than practical skill education in engineering ethics. One of the functions of a course in engineering ethics is to help students judge the moral situation. The moral judgement is needed to improve the lives and well-being of the human beings. Therefor we attempt to help students understand the importance of professional responsibility and ethical practice. This paper studies the program of engineering ethics education to ensure the identity of engineering ethics expert. More and more universities in Korea are offering the Engineering Ethics course. But there is no systematic teaching program. I tried to identify the object, contents and teaching method of engineering ethics course in Korea. Engineering Ethics is a branch of applied ethics, so I think the ethics experts should teach the subject. Ethics experts can help the engineer to be sensitive to important ethical issues. Moral consideration is needed by an engineer who confronts ethical problem situations. An engineer faces significant ethical choices, which is a basic factor in preventing mistakes. Therefore, I stress that ethics be applied and an extensive case study be done about it. The engineer has to learn the techniques needed in analyzing and resolving ethical issues and problems. Finally, I propose that the narrative method be utilized in teaching the subject. The narrative method will enhance the imagination of the engineer. The ethical implication of story telling gives impetus to the engineer's imagination on moral judgement. m in Engineering Ethics
