Various reports indicate that the state of mental health among Indian college students is fast deteriorating. Despite these concerns, many Indian college students do not seek professional help due to numerous avoidance factors, which have not been explored in the Indian context. The current study aimed to bridge this gap and identify the relationship between the avoidance factors (stigma, distress disclosure, anticipated benefit and risk, social support) and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. Two hundred seventy Indian college students were sent questionnaires based on each factor through an online platform. The results were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Other than Public Stigma, all avoidance factors were found to be significantly correlated with Attitudes Toward seeking Professional Psychological Help. Further regression analysis reflected that Self stigma, Anticipated Risk and Anticipated Benefit significantly predicted Attitudes towards seeking Professional Psychological Help.
