이 논문은 스피노자 철학에서 속성에 관한 객관주의적 해석이 일원론적 존재론과 모순이 되는지에 대해서 연구한다. 속성에 실체와 동일한 실재성을 부여하는 객관주의적 해석은 여러 텍스트적 근거가 있음에도 불구하고 그 해석 방법이 데카르트적 이원론의 도식을 내포할 뿐만 아니라 모든 속성을 포함하는 단일 실체 이론과 모순을 일으킬 수 있다는 문제가 제기되어 왔다. 하지만 객관주의적 해석이 『소론』과 「편지」, 『윤리학』 텍스트에서 분명한 근거를 취할 수 있다면 그 해석 방법이 데카르트적 이원론의 도식을 내포한다고 하더라도 거부할 필요는 없다. 그 이유는 객관주의적 해석이 실체와 속성에 대한 이론만을 대상으로 하는 만큼, 스피노자 철학에서 실체-속성 이론이 이원론에 빠지더라도 다른 개념을 통해 일원론으로 종합될 수 있으면 되기 때문이다. 실제로 스피노자의 철학을 일원론으로 종합하는 것은 실체-속성 개념이 아닌 신 관념이라고 볼만 한 여러 근거가 있으며, 만일 본 논문의 주장이 타당하다면, 적어도 객관주의적 해석을 이원론의 도식을 내포한다거나 일원론과 모순될 수 있다는 이유로 거부할 이유는 전혀 없음이 입증될 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 먼저 객관주의적 해석이 충분한 텍스트적 근거가 있다는 점과 그것이 이원론의 도식을 내포하더라도 스피노자 철학 전체와 모순되지 않는다는 점, 특히 실체와 신 관념을 엄밀하게 구분해서 이해하면 속성에 관한 객관주의적 해석은 스피노자 철학 전체와 아무런 부딪힘 없이 적용 가능함을 보이는 것을 목적으로 한다.
Abstract
This Paper examines whether the objective interpretation is contradictory to Spinoza's monism or not. Even though the objective interpretation is based on Spinoza's text like KV, Ep, E, but it has severe problems in that it could not only imply Cartesian dualism but also conflict with Spinoza's monism. However, if we stick with the text, there is no reason to reject the objective interpretation, because that is a theory just about substance and attribute, not the idea of God. To make Spinoza's philosophy a monism is not substance-attribute but the idea of God. Therefore, I try to show that the objective interpretation is based on the text itself. It is not contradictory to Spinoza's philosophy as long as we make a difference between God and substance.
