초록
This study was conducted to explore the direction of future physical education, the required competencies of physical education teachers, and their roles. The study collected data through in-depth interviews with a total of five teachers with more than 10 years of experience and applied interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The study resulted in 44 meaningful statements, which were organised into 11 themes and then into nine thematic groups and three categories. Physical education was established as an educational field that goes beyond simple physical activity to support cooperation, communication, creative thinking, and emotional development. However, challenges in physical education education were identified in the application of the curriculum, such as the subjectivity of lesson design and methods, lack of resources, and decreased student interest. Teachers also recognised the need for various professional development, including the ability to design creative lessons, use digital technology, and provide emotional support. This study proposes the need for policy support and systematic programme design to support holistic growth in physical education and strengthen teacher competence, and discusses specific measures for change in physical education.
