코로나19 이후 상급종합병원 간호사의 의료폐기물 관리 실천에 미치는 영향요인

초록

목적: 본 연구는 코로나19 유행 이후 상급종합병원의 간호사의 감염관리 조직문화 인식, 의료폐기물에 대한 태도 및 의료폐기물에 대한 관리 실천의 관계를 분석하고 이들 변수가 의료폐기물 관리 실천에 미치는 영향력을 확인함으로써, 상급종합병원의 간호사의 의료폐기물 관리에 대한 역량을 높이고 그로 인한 감염관리를 증진시킬 수 있는 방안 모색을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행되었다. 방법: 본 연구는 서술적 조사연구로 B시 소재 1개 상급종합병원과 U시 소재 1개 상급종합병원에서 근무하는 간호사를 대상으로 154명에 대한 답변이 최종 분석에 포함되었다. 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 수집된 자료는 독립 t-검정, 일원분산분석, Scheffé́ 검정, Pearson’s 상관계수, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였으며 IBM SPSS/WIN 27.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과: 본 연구결과 간호사의 의료폐기물에 대한 관리 실천에 영향을 미치는 요인은 통계적으로 유의하였으며(F=7.34, p<.001), 모형의 설명력은 29.3%였다. 의료폐기물에 대한 관리 실천에 영향을 미치는 요인은 감염관리 조직문화 인식(β=.26, p=.007), 의료폐기물에 대한 태도(β=.23, p=.011), 의료폐기물 교육 여부(β=.18, p=.013)로 나타났다. 이 중 감염관리 조직문화 인식이 의료폐기물에 대한 관리 실천에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구결과로 코로나19와 같은 신종감염병의 유행 시 의료폐기물 관리 실천을 개선하기 위해서는 의료폐기물 관리 교육 프로그램 개발 시 의료폐기물 관리에 대한 긍정적인 태도를 반영하여 제공할 수 있는 전략이 필요하며, 의료폐기물 관리를 실천하기 위한 조직문화를 긍정적으로 만들기 위해 조직 차원의 감염관리 지침 및 활동이 필요하다.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the practice of medical waste management of nursesin tertiary general hospitals after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods: The participants were154 nurses working in two tertiary general hospitals. Data were collected using structured questionnaires andanalyzed using an Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffé́ test, Pearson correlation coefficients, andmultiple regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 27.0 program. Results: Factors significantly influencing thesubject's practice of medical waste management include medical waste education(β=.18, p=.013),recognition of infection control organizational culture (β=.26, p=.007), and attitudes toward medical wastemanagement (β=.23, p=.011). The explanatory power of these variables for medical waste managementpractice was 29.0% (F=7.34, p<.001). Conclusion: To improve the practice of medical waste management,a strategy to provide positive attitudes toward medical waste management should be needed when developingmedical waste management training programs, and various measures are necessary to make the organizationalculture positive for the implementation of infection control guidelines at the organizational level.
