본 연구는 유방암환자 가족의 사회적 지지와 부담감의 관계를 알아보고 가족의 부담감에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 유방암은 다른 암과는 달리 환자의 대부분이 여성으로 환자의 보호자가 대부분 남성이 되며 가정에서의 역할 및 기능 변화에 영향을 미치게 된다. 또한 유방암은 다른 암에 비해 생존율이 높으며 치료이후 보호시간이 길어진다. 최근에 암환자 가족의 부담감, 사회적 지지, 무력감 등에 대한 연구가 증가되고 있으나 유방암환자의 가족에 대한 연구는 거의 없다. 본 연구결과 첫째, 가족이 가장 필요로 하는 사회적 지지는 사랑․신뢰․이해 등이며 배우자를 통해 지지받기를 원하고 있다. 질병 정보나 금전지원 등은 전문가, 정부의 지지를 필요로 하고 있다. 둘째, 가족의 부담감 및 사회적 지지는 사회 인구학적 변인과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 가족의 사회적 지지와 부담감간의 상관관계에서 사회적 지지가 높을수록 부담감은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 부담감에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 변인은 사회적 지지이며 그 다음은 가족원의 직업이었다. 앞으로 유방암환자의 가족에 대한 사회적 지지는 정서적, 경제적, 정보 및 지식 등 다양한 차원에서 이루어져야 하며 이는 가족의 부담감을 줄이고 가족결속력 및 기능향상에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to research the correlation between burden and social support that family caregivers of breast cancer patients have, and to find factors that will cause this burden. In contrast to other cancers, breast cancer occurs mainly in women and their family caregivers can be men. It may change the man's role and function in the family. Patients can have a lot of physical, psychological and emotional problems after a mastectomy. Consequently, their family caregivers often feel more burden than caregivers of other cancer patients. The results of this study are as follows: First, the social support that family caregivers need most is love, trust, understanding and support coming from their partner. Second, the relation between burden and social support of the family is significantly different in accordance with social-demographic factors and statistics. Finally, the more family caregivers have social support, the less they feel burdened. The feeling of burden varies according to social support and profession. Consequently, social support for family caregivers of breast cancer patients must be given in many dimensions:in emotion, economics, information, and knowledge. This will contribute to decreasing family burden and improving family-binding power and function.
