일상재구성법을 통해 살펴본 영․유아자녀를 둔 기혼 여성들의 행복감

본 연구는 어린자녀를 둔 기혼여성들이 경험하는 일상적 행복감과 관련요인을 살펴보고자 하는 목적에서 수행되었다. 이를 위해 일상재구성법(Daily Reconstruction Method)을 이용하여 만 5세미만의 영유아 자녀를 둔 기혼여성 총 3,067명을 대상으로 하루 동안의 활동과 상황, 그리고 그 순간의 행복감을 재구성한 일상경험 자료를 수집하였다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째. 기혼여성들은 일상생활의 상당부분을 가사일과 자녀를 돌보며 살아가고 있었는데, 그 순간 느끼는 행복감은 개인유지활동이나 여가활동 순간보다도 낮았다. 둘째. 함께 있는 대상에 따라 기혼여성들이 느끼는 행복감의 차이가 나타났는데, 자녀와만 있는 상황은 평균보다 낮은 행복감을 느꼈지만, 자녀와 배우자가 함께 있는 순간은 매우 높은 행복감을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째. 삶의 전반적 행복감은 일상생활에서 느끼는 순간의 행복감과 유의한 관련성을 나타냈으며, 특히 가사활동 순간에 느끼는 행복감이 다른 활동 순간에 느끼는 행복감보다 더 큰 관련성을 보였다, 또한 자녀와 배우자가 함께 있는 순간에 느끼는 행복감이 여성들의 전반적 행복감에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 통해 기혼여성들이 느끼는 행복의 조건을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the daily happiness of young married women in various everyday contexts and overall happiness using the Day Reconstruction Method (DRM). Data were gathered from a total of 3,067 married women with children under the age of five. The major findings were as follows:First, most married women spent the majority of time on household work and childcare, but the reports showed that they were less happy when doing housework and care-related work than when spending time on leisure and self-maintenance (i.e., eating, sleeping) activities. Secondly, the women showed a below-average level of happiness while they were with their child alone. On the other hand, they showed a higher level of happiness when their husband joined the picture. Third, the women’s daily happiness level was positively correlated with their overall level of happiness. In particular, the level of daily happiness coming from the time spent doing household work intensified the effect on overall happiness. Lastly, the companionship of family (a child and/or husband) was found to be the only significant predictor of the women’s overall happiness. Based on these findings, the conditions that make married women happy and the significance of these findings were discussed.
