Abstract

Object : This study was carried out to investigate the correlation between homocysteine and serum lipids which were known risk factor of stroke.Methods : The subjects were total 60 patients, and divided control group(n=30) and Sample group(n=30). Control group was normal homocysteine level with not clinical symptom, and sample group was high homocysteine level with headache, dizziness, hypertension and so on, clinical symptoms. Each group was measured and compared serum homocysteine, total cholesterol, triglyceride(TG), low density lipoprotein(LDL), high density lipoprotein(HDL).Results : Total cholesterol, TG, LDL were significantly increased and HDL was significantly decreased in sample group which was high homocysteine level group compared with control group which was normal homocysteine level group.Conclusion : In these results, it was suggested that increase of homocysteine lead to increase of serum total cholesterol, TG, LDL, but cause decrease of HDL. And it seemed that risk of stroke is more increased in high homocysteine level than normal.
