초록
Objective: Sleep disorders and lower back pain are common problems. This case report describes a patient with lumbar disc herniation and sleep disorder who showed improvement following complex Korean medical treatment. Methods: The patient was hospitalized at a Korean medicine clinic for 21 days and received Korean medicine treatment combination, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, acupotomy, and moxibustion. Therapeutic efficacy was assessed using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Results: After hospitalization, the NRS score for low back pain improved from 8 to 1, and the ODI improved from 51 to 13%. Sleep disturbances improved from an ISI score of 19 to 0 and a PSQI score of 11-3. Conclusion: Korean medical treatments may be effective in patients with sleep disorders and low back pain. Further research on sleep disorders and low back pain is required.
