초록
Objectives: This case report describes the effects of Korean medicine on gait disturbances in a patient with corticobasal syndrome (CBS). Methods: A 64-year-old woman diagnosed with CBS was hospitalized for 28 days and received integrative Korean medicine, including herbal medicine, bee venom pharmacopuncture, acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, and pharmacoacupuncture. Gait changes were evaluated using 3-dimensional gait analysis, the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) parts II and III, and video evaluation. Results: Gait symmetry and stability improved after treatment, with an increased swing phase and a reduced double-support phase. As the pelvic range of motion increased, the UPDRS Part II and III scores decreased from 21 to 16 and 32 to 24, respectively, and the postural instability and gait difficulty (PIGD) score decreased from 10 to 4. Postural deviation and straight-line walking were improved. Conclusion: This case suggests that Korean medicine may be beneficial for improving gait disturbance and postural instability in patients with CBS.
